Male hair removal methods are gaining popularity these days among men. Hair removal techniques are no longer intended for women alone. Men are looking for the same hair elimination methods likely used by women in removal of unwanted body hair. The purpose of male hair removal could be complete elimination, thinning or just gaining control over unwanted and excessive body hair. There are various male hair removal techniques where the preferences normally depend on the hair thickness and location on the body, the level of pain that will be incurred, the cost of the treatment, and on the mode of hair removal, either temporary or permanent.
Different Methods of Male Hair Removal
Shaving with the use of a razor is the traditional and the most commonly used male hair removal technique. It is also an inexpensive and painless method. The razor can be a traditional one or the electric type. It is particularly used by men when shaving facial hair. However, the use of razors is not applicable in removing hair from other parts of the body such as the back and chests. It is not also a long-term solution; the result can last roughly for 1 to 3 days only. Chances of cuts, bumps or razor burn can occur.
Tweezing is a popular, but a bit painful and time-consuming male hair removal technique especially done on the eyebrows, chin, and upper lip. Its effect of 3 to 8 weeks, is longer than that of shaving.
Waxing is one of the most popular among male hair removal techniques. It is a fast and relatively inexpensive method in removing hair. In this method, the heated wax is spread on top of the hair and covered with a strip of cloth or paper; once cooled, it is immediately peeled off. This male hair removal method is most likely applied to the eyebrow and back of the neck to make them neater and more presentable. However, sooner or later the hair will grow back. In some instances, more hair will grow back as replacement for the removed ones. In addition, this method is a bit painful particularly on sensitive body parts; it should not be used on the sensitive parts of the genitals.
Sugaring is another less expensive male hair removal method. It makes use of heated sugar paste to spread and embed onto the hair area. The process is very similar to waxing, the only difference is the actual binding compound used.
Other common male hair removal methods are the use of lotions and depilatory creams. Choosing of depilatory creams should be careful; these might cause irritations, allergies and other skin problems.
Laser is the Best Form of Male Hair Removal
The use of laser is the best and most popular among male hair removal techniques. This method is generally expensive due to the cost of the laser equipment, payment to the skilled technician or operator and the cost of several operations. It is applicable in removing hair from different locations on the body, especially on the back of the body, upper arms and chests. Methods using laser are usually effective in permanently removing hair. Several treatment sessions may be required to get the desired results, which are permanently removing hair and preventing them from growing back. However, there is no guarantee that some of the hair will be prevented from growing back.
Electrolysis, as a male hair removal technique, has the same principle with the laser method in preventing hair re-growth. Instead of using laser energy, it uses electricity to burn hair and hair follicles. The latter is responsible in replacing the removed hair with the new one.
Any of these methods can work for you to varying degrees, but I highly recommend laser treatments for the most efficient male hair removal method.
